As a newborn photographer, I have always been drawn to light and natural newborn photos that emphasize the purity of new life.
I love using whites and neutrals as a background to really showcase newborn babies in their innate innocence and beauty. I have an assortment of blankets and wraps as well as accessories in a neutral color scheme so that parents don’t need to bring anything to the session; it’s all ready for you to choose what you like.
I also allow babies to relax into positions that are comfortable and natural for them. I wrap babies and place them in beautiful natural light but I like to allow them to stretch and rest while I photograph them. The way that they naturally curl and twist, just as they did in the womb, creates a beauty that can’t be mimicked.
The tiny hands overhead, the feet crossed, and an occasional smile passed over those adorable little lips; it’s what you want to remember from these sweet but fleeting days of tiny-ness. From their head to their toes, every detail of a newborn baby is so magical and also changes so quickly, which is why I always include photos of their tiny details.
The love for your newborn is so full and overwhelming, and although we think we can commit all of their small features to memory, the passage of time and their growth make it so hard. Preserving these moments in time in light and natural newborn photos is what I love to do for families.
