Investing in Newborn Photography is something that I encourage expecting moms to do for many reasons. As a mother of twins myself, I am so glad that I had newborn photos taken of my children.
It may be a cliché, but it’s true when people say that once the baby comes, everything changes! Huge, philosophical things, like my perspective on the world suddenly changed when I became a mother. Also, practical things changed dramatically, like how many hours of sleep I somehow survived on!
Certain aspects of those first few months of motherhood felt like a blur—an endless cycle of feedings, naps and diaper changes. And while my husband and I were both giving 100% of our energy into ensuring that our babies thrived, they were growing little by little each day.
Soon, my daughter who once fit comfortably in my two outstretched palms was as long as my arms, and the snaps on my son’s little onesies no longer clasped. As I was doing my job as a mother, my tiny little newborns were developing into chubby little babies.
When I look at the newborn photos of my children, I am relieved that during my pregnancy, I thought ahead and booked that session. I love to see how their features have developed and how their expressions back then were subtle clues of their personalities to come.
And, to be honest, it’s a bittersweet feeling that they will never be that small again. If you are currently expecting and are unsure if newborn photos are a luxury rather than a necessity, I can tell you from experience that quality images of your newborn are priceless.
